Morning: Nairobi National Park

Leave at opening for Nairobi National Park to see the animals active: a 2 to 3 hour outing is enough. The KWS entry fee (USD 43 per non-resident adult before the increase announced in October 2025 and suspended by a court) should be checked.

11am: the Sheldrick elephant orphanage

The public visit to the Sheldrick takes place from 11am to 12 noon, inside the park. You must book in advance with the Trust; entry is a donation of USD 20 per adult and USD 5 per child under 12, payable in cash on site, on top of the park entry fee.

Early afternoon: the Giraffe Centre

The Giraffe Centre is open from 9am to 5pm: KSh 1,500 per non-resident adult and KSh 750 per child, pellets included.

Late afternoon: Karen Blixen or the national museum

The Karen Blixen Museum is nearby (USD 17 per non-resident adult); it closes at 5:30pm, so arrive before 4:30pm. If you prefer the Nairobi National Museum (USD 18), put it in the morning or on a rainy day instead.

Practical tips

Hire a car with a driver for the day or use Uber and Bolt, and agree the price before leaving. For your arrival, read from the airport to the city centre; to avoid unpleasant surprises, scams and safety in Kenya. For the rest of the trip, see Kenya in 10 days.
