Uber and Bolt

The apps show the price before the ride: allow about KSh 1,000 to 2,200 to the centre depending on the guide and demand. Bolt is often a little cheaper than Uber. Follow the app's directions to the pick-up point.
Official taxi
Taxis wait outside arrivals; the price is usually negotiated and estimates range from KSh 1,500 to 4,500. Agree the price before getting in and refuse drivers who approach you inside the terminal.
Pre-booked transfer
A driver with your name at arrivals is useful after a night flight or with luggage. Hotels and safari agencies often offer it; ask for the total price.
Matatu and train
Matatus (minibuses) cost about KSh 50 to 100 but are slow, crowded and not suited to luggage. The SGR train stops at Syokimau and is not connected to the terminal.
Journey time and traffic
Allow 25 to 50 minutes outside rush hour to the centre; at peak times, up to 90 minutes or more. The Nairobi Expressway toll road saves time; the toll is added to the fare.
